Camping with Paul - March 23, 2012
Posted: March 23, 2012 | Last Revised: March 23, 2012
Wow, there are to many good stories to tell of our times with Paul. Our trips camping with Paul we always nominated Paul to cook meals. Breakfast taco's in particular were his specialty. I remember how you never wanted to ask what was in them but they were always wonderful tasting. He'd use whatever was left over from dinner the night before, add a little egg and there you'd have it. One weekend he had some one fly in fresh crawfish. We were camping up at Inks Lake State Park and I had brought ribs and potatoes to cook. We sat out in the water eating fresh crawfish then headed to the table for ribs and potatoes. We ate so much that day we were literally ill. Ahhh, camping with Paul! I remember him getting us lost on Buchanan lake one night. We could'nt find our way back to the condos we were staying in until nearly midnight. We had a turkey in the oven in the condo but lucky for us, when we returned the turkey was still rare. (The oven did not work). Maybe you had to be there to find the humor in it but we all laughed until we cried it was so funny. Another thing about Paul, he could not tell a joke. Well, he could but it would take him 30 minutes to tell it. If a bunch of us were camping and Paul began to tell a joke we would all head for our tents or pretend to snore. It did'nt work, he'd tell it anyway. We all got a laugh out of it. One thing is for certain, when Paul built his first home in Canyon Lake he said he wanted to build a big fireplace. I remember watching as he started it and the first thing standing was a HUGE fireplace. He built the house around that. The man could do anything and do it right. I could go on and on about our time spent with Paul. Every minute is cherised. Paul loved his children and wanted nothing but the best for them. This is someting we often talked about when we were together. Let's all remember the good times because there were plenty to go around.
