Byron E. Taggart

Life Legacy


Byron E. Taggart, born in Floyd, Texas on January 29, 1919, passed away on September 27, 2007. He served in the United States Army during World War II attaining the rank of Captain.

Mr. Taggart started teaching in 1947. He taught sheet metal, drafting and math. Byron and Polly moved to San Antonio in 1949 where he taught school for several years at Emerson Junior High and Whitter Junior High. He retired in January of 1994 and served on the board of Laurel Heights United Methodist Church for several terms. Mr. Taggart was a member and co-organizer of Aldersgate Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Byron is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Pauline “Polly” Taggart; his niece Kathleen Trout; and his nephew, Clyde G. Holmes both of Garland, Texas; his brother, James Taggert of Greenville, Texas and several other nieces and nephews.
