Dear Nancy and Family:
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. Cliff was an exceptional Special Agent with the FBI and carried that trait in his personal life among his associates. We are better men for our association with Cliff. We will miss a dear friend and colleague of integrity. James Collignon

Dear Nancy,

I want you to know that I am very sad to hear of Cliff's death. I knew Cliff when we worked together at the New Orleans FBI office in the 1980's. I also spoke to him when I worked in the FBI's Laboratory in Washington, DC in the 1990's. I recall that in New Orleans he accompanied me on a few interviews. He asked very penetrating questions. I remember him as a real professional Agent. Later, after he retired, we spoke about a case he was working that had a codes, since I am a cryptanalyst. I considered Cliff a friend. May his memory be for a blessing. Jerry Simpson

Cliff Anderson leaves the finest of all legacies that anyone would desire. That legacy is nonmaterial, sincere, and genuine. It is the fact that he gained so much satsfaction in communing with his fellow human and relished learning as a lifelong preoccupation.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Anderson Family.

Mr. Anderson was my Supervisor in the mid to late 80s. He was a true gentleman who deeply cared for each and every one of us!We were his "FBI Family and Squad 6 ruled!!"

Not to be disrespectful to anyone, as I know this loss is extremely hard, but I would like to share just a couple of heartwarming stories of my own, just to bring a smile to your face on what an incredible husband/dad you had.

As I was his Secretary, I can recall on numerous occasions when he use to dictate to me ~~ his vocabulary was impeccable and he'd come up with a word that was a mile long. As I was only about 22 yoa, I was still stuck on that word ~~ first because I never heard it before and second, because I had no clue how to write it in shorthand. As I tried to stop him, he'd keep going on and on until I started to laugh.

He'd say, what's the matter and I'd say sir, I have no earthly clue on what you just said, much less how to decipher and lastly, have no idea on what it means. He'd look at me with that slanted smile then he'd start to explain the meaning of that word. To top it off, he would have to spell it for me. He'd go on and on again until another mile long word came out and I'd be lost again. Same scenario as above then we'd start laughing until dictation over. Way too funny!!!

On another funny note, it was Christmas one year and I was sitting at my desk reading some material when all of a sudden, something came flying across my desk and landed in my lap. To my surprise, I looked down and saw this ugly brown-looking thing on my lap and I let out a shriek!! My co-worker and friend, knew that a kid of my age would have no clue as to what that was. I was sitting there in horror and all she could do was laugh. Mr. C came running over to my desk because he thought something happened to me. When he saw my face, we all started laughing because I was pointing down on my lap with this look as to, "what in the world is this disgusting thing." Well, I had another history lesson on what "that thing" was, the purpose for it, and that the name for it was loofah. He was so proud of that because he had grown it. This story I will treasure forever because it is priceless to me!!!

What a joy it was to have been blessed and touched by such a wonderful, caring and loving man. I am truly honored to have been taught by one of the "FBI's finest."

May you always remember that your husband/father will always remain by your side and that he loved each and every one of you unconditionally. May God bless you all and I will keep you in my prayers!!!

Fr. Ken Wolfe

Dear Nancy, Michael, Kathryn and family:

My heart-felt condolences on the passing of your dear husband and dad. Cliff was an exceptional man!

I am one of many who has been blessed from knowing and working with him. Cliff was my first supervisor on my arrival in New Orleans. He always modeled integrity, care, diligence, and thoroughness in case work - and in living life. I am a better person from having known Cliff.

When I left the Bureau to be ordained to the priesthood of The Episcopal Church, Cliff was one who most easily understood and he encouraged me in my decision. With you, I am grateful to God for the example of Cliff's full, principled, and rich life and that he is now free of pain and at peace.

Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord: And let light perpetual shine upon him.

May his soul, and the souls of all the departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Ken

My regret is that I did not meet Cliff and Nancy long ago. I am very happy that we drew a fast friendship with them both. I will never forget the smile Cliff had when I came barreling in to his townhouse with my guitar in hand. He tapped along to all the Elvis songs I could remember! And of course Nancy did too! It was great to know and admire Cliff for the short time that Suzanne and I did. We will miss him and we pledge to check in on Nancy as often as we can! God Bless! Rick and Suzanne Cavender

It was unexpected for me to know what happened. I lost a really great friend and all of us lost a great and lovable gentleman. I will never forget all the moments spent together in Berlin at WMF 2008 and 2010, all our conversations during our dinner or at the hotel drinking a beer about numismatics, politics, our families and San Antonio. And I will never forget your kindness with my son Carlo. My dear Cliff, you will be forever in our heart and with us. Carlo sends you a big kiss. We will miss you. Nancy and family- our condolences to you on your loss. Cliff and I worked together in New Orleans. He was a kind, gentle, and wise man. My most special memory of Cliff involves a period when New Orleans was near riot after several persons had been shot by the police when attempting to arrest them for murdering a police officer. Cliff maintained regular contact with a local community leader, assuring her that the matter would be fully investigated. I am convinced Cliff diffused the situation and saved the city from an ugly experience. I told this story at my retirement to show how special Cliff was to me.
I know he had "doubts" about religion, but I cannot see how a merciful God would deny this beautiful creature a place of eternal reward.
Our love to you all in this time of sorrow.
Al and Kathy Hoyt

Condolences from the Jensens in Denmark.
Only a few years ago Cliff entered our lives. We had begun writing a family history about our American relatives.Because Cliff and I (Frank) are related ,we had a commen interest in this subject. From the very first moment Cliff offered all his attention to the project . He inspired and encouraged us and told us about his branch of the family and delivered material to us. He even wrote a chapter about it. No one could have been more entusiastic about the family history than he. Although we never met him face to face, we knew him through the extensive correspondence. We can support all, what has been written elsewhere and we want to add, that Cliff was even-tempered, open-minded and he had a splendid sense of humuor.
All honours to the memory of Cliff Anderson.

Karen and Frank Nyboe Jensen

The old saying that “the mold was broken” after Cliff Anderson was created is true; there could not ever be another Cliff.
He was kind, thoughtful, considerate and helpful…words that describe Cliff only tell part of his story. I enjoyed talking with Cliff about numerous topics. He enjoyed: History, Travel, Politics, Food, San Antonio and Texas however California and New England were part of his thoughts and he did not forget those days.
Cliff was a member of the ROMEO’S a group of (Retired Old Men Eating Out) he was not the most vocal however his words and comments were appreciated by all. Cliff introduced me the Gateway Coin Club, a group of approximately 30 members. One of the tasks for members was to make a presentation on some coin subject. He selected British Coins and talked about how the coins changed from one English King/Queen to the next, the club gave him a standing ovation.
One of my regrets is that I did not meet Cliff years ago however I can say that he is one of the finest man anyone will ever meet. We miss you Cliff.
Our thoughts go out to you, Nancy and to your family.
