Burial or cremation? Personal choice, family tradition or religious affiliation will determine whether burial or cremation is more appropriate. Be aware, however, that legal paperwork, arrangements and funeral items are different for each choice. In either case, you can count on us to treat your loved one with respect, to handle all details, and to provide a full range of appropriate services and products.
Why cremation? Cremation has become the choice of a growing number of people, and for a variety of reasons. Some feel it is a more natural process than a burial. Others make the choice based on environmental concerns. For still others, it fulfills a religious, spiritual or cultural tradition. Whatever the reason, the trend continues to grow – and so has our commitment to providing a broad range of cremation services. In addition to handling the cremation, we can also help families plan the ceremony they prefer, as well as make arrangements for final disposition and memorialization. Our funeral directors can discuss the options with you, or a member of our Advance Planning team can help you make the arrangements ahead of time. There are as many options as there are wishes, and at Porter Loring Mortuaries we can take care of them all.
What makes cremation through Porter Loring Mortuaries unique.
- Higher Standards of Operation. For four generations, our family philosophy has been to set high standards in all services we offer.
- Quality Assurance. We adhere to a rigorous set of procedures before, during and after the cremation to ensure respectful treatment of your loved one and quality of care for your family.
- Peace of Mind. Porter Loring Mortuaries, as well as the crematory, requires the signatures of all members of the authorizing level of kinship. This assures that all the family members are involved in the arrangement process. Texas law requires a positive identification typically by a family member, to be completed prior to the cremation. We go beyond this by requiring independent and positive identification of your loved one by two to three of our staff members even after family identification has been completed.
